Jonny Wilkinson believes Owen Farrell, George Ford can both star at World Cup

Jonny Wilkinson believes Owen Farrell and George Ford can create a successful '10/12 partnership' during the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

Former England international Jonny Wilkinson believes that there is room for both Owen Farrell and George Ford in Stuart Lancaster's 2015 Rugby World Cup squad.

Farrell was deemed the number one choice for the England fly half shirt, but a long-term knee injury ruled him out of the 2015 Six Nations and replacement Ford hasn't looked back.

"I don't know if it is a horses for courses affair in terms of the World Cup but they are both going to feature," Wilkinson told ESPN. "It may come down to which team we are playing.

"I have always been an advocate of the 10/12 link. I enjoyed playing some of my best rugby alongside guys such as Rob Andrew, Mike Catt, Paul Grayson and Matt Giteau.

"Owen has that sturdiness that brings confidence to the boys around him, but George has got those subtle touches that show he is aware how to play different situations."

The two youngsters faced each other in the 2015 Aviva Premiership final, with Farrell's Saracens triumphing over Ford's Bath 28-16.
