Danny Cipriani has admitted that it would "mean everything" to represent England at this year's Rugby World Cup.
The Sale Sharks fly-half produced an impressive display for the Red Rose against the Barbarians last month, being named man of the match after scoring 33 points.
However, his World Cup hopes were left in tatters just hours later when he was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, leaving him with a nervy wait to learn his fate.
Dylan Hartley and Manu Tuilagi have already been axed by head coach Stuart Lancaster due to ill-discipline, but Cipriani will play a part in England's training camp which gets underway on June 22.
"It would mean everything to me to represent my country at the World Cup," he told The Express. "I am only 27 and there are more things I feel that I want to do. But playing in a World Cup would mean everything to me.
"In 2007 I was playing full-back at the time and was one of the last people dropped from the squad. I was young so it was a great learning curve. In 2007 everything came easy to me because I was on the front foot. I was playing with world-class players week in and week out.
"So for me I knew one way of playing and I could do it really well. Whereas at Sale I have learnt to play a different way. We might not have the fire power and the go forward but I guess I am more rounded as a player and now have a wider understanding. And being part of an England squad that is respected is more than a dream it is something that I am really looking forward to trying to achieve."
Cipriani returned to the international fold earlier this year, following a lengthy spell away from the England side.
