Milton Haig backs record-breaking Vasil Lobzhanidze to handle pressure

Georgia coach Milton Haig backs Vasil Lobzhanidze to handle the pressure of becoming the youngest player in World Cup history.

Georgia coach Milton Haig has insisted that Vasil Lobzhanidze will handle the pressure of becoming the youngest player in World Cup history on Sunday.

The 18-year-old will set a new record in Gloucester when he starts against Tonga in their Pool C opener, and Haig is confident that the occasion will not get the better of Lobzhanidze, who has won six caps for Georgia.

"He's in the squad because he is one of the top three scrum-halves in Georgia and he's our number one No.9," Haig told reporters.

"Although he is only 18, he plays and makes decisions like a 25 or 26-year-old, and he makes good decisions under pressure."

Georgia must also take on Namibia, Argentina and defending champions New Zealand in Pool C.
