European Challenge Cup roundup: Gloucester Rugby thrash Oyonnax, London Irish win against Grenoble, and Newport Gwent Dragons ease past Newcastle Falcons.

Gloucester Rugby have extended their lead at the top of Pool Five in the European Challenge Cup after a blistering start helped them beat Oyonnax 33-3

Three tries in the opening 10 minutes from Billy Burns, Jonny May and Mark Atkinson saw the hosts take immediate control of the match, before a further penalty try and Dan Robson effort secured a comfortable win.

Elsewhere, London Irish staged a dramatic late comeback to beat Grenoble 43-41, with a late try from Myles Dorian and a conversion from Tom Homer helping them to pull away from the visitors in Pool One.

London Irish had seen David Paice sent off in the 57th minute, and the French side looked to be on course for victory after Louis Marrou had put them 10 points clear in the final stages, before the home side's dramatic finish.

Newport Gwent Dragons scored five unanswered first-half tries to help them beat Newcastle Falcons 40-29 in Pool Three's top-of-the-table clash.

The hosts did hit back with four tries in the second period, but Hallam Amos's second score eased Newport's fears and helped them close the game out.

Italian side Zebre benefited from a penalty try as they beat Brive 23-13, with a low-scoring first period livening up after the break in Pool Five.

Venione Voretamaya of Brive and Kelly Haimona of Zebre both scored for their sides, before the penalty try secured the win for the hosts.

Results: London Irish 43-41 Grenoble, Gloucester Rugby 33-3 Oyonnax, Zebre 23-13 Brive, Newcastle Falcons 29-40 Newport Gwent Dragons.
