Ireland boss Declan Kidney feels that he was let down with his side's performance as they endured a 29-29 draw with the Barbarians.

A few days after England had beaten the Baa-Baas convincingly, the Irish were forced to go into the game without several key Leinster players. Despite the absentees, Kidney insists that they had still expected to come out on top in the non-cap match.

"We are disappointed. The Barbarians were a lot better than they were on Sunday against England," said Kidney.

"They were well focused, it was a tough game and but we only went down to a penalty three minutes from the end.

"We didn't have a full deck of cards but it was a brilliant opportunity for some of our fringe players."

Kidney will name his squad for the tour of New Zealand on Wednesday.
