Leicester Tigers' Rob Hawkins has signed a new contract.
The hooker has made 12 appearances for the Tigers this season and impressed in their successful LV Cup campaign.
Hawkins sustained a broken elbow in the final against Northampton in an incident that resulted in Calum Clark being cited by the Rugby Football Union.
Speaking to BBC Radio Leicester, director of rugby Richard Cockerill said: "We verbally agreed a contract a few weeks ago which hadn't been signed. Since then he's signed that and I have signed it.
"Rob got an opportunity to play and prove himself and what's the most disappointing thing is that now that has been cut short and hampered by what was a pretty avoidable incident."
Hawkins, 28, underwent surgery on Monday and is expected to be ruled out for the rest of the season.
Leicester Tigers haven't disclosed any of Hawkins's contract details.
