Wasps obliterate London Welsh

Wasps run in eleven tries to destroy London Welsh 71-7 in Sunday afternoon's Aviva Premiership clash at Adams Park.

Wasps scored a gargantuan 11 tries to destroy London Welsh by a score of 71-7 in Sunday afternoon's Aviva Premiership clash at Adams Park.

The hosts opened the scoring after just two minutes, Nathan Hughes crashing through the heart of the opposition defence to give his side the lead, before Andy Goode followed on with a conversion.

Just three minutes later, Wasps struck again as Ashley Johnson bundled over from short range, Goode once again getting the ball between the posts.

The relentless home side would tally up another two tries in the first half, with Sailosi Tagicakibau and Hughes crossing over the line to give Wasps a dominant 26-0 lead.

It would get much worse for Welsh after the break, because just after the restart, Christian Wade bundled over following a good break from Elliot Daly in midfield.

Before the hour mark, Wasps got another two tries, courtesy of Johnson and Joe Simpson, but the visitors avoided a whitewash when Ben Pienaar went over following a blistering break and Will Robinson converted.

This was to prove a mere blip for the hosts, as they stepped it up yet another gear after the hour, with both Johnson and Wade securing hat-tricks and Tom Varndell also getting onto the scoresheet.
