Wales skipper Alun Wyn Jones tells Sports Mole that he is thinking about pushing for a place at the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France.

Wales skipper Alun Wyn Jones has told Sports Mole "never say never" when asked about the 2023 World Cup in France.

The 34-year-old - Wales's most-capped player ever - led his side to the semi-finals of the competition in Japan this autumn after a year in which he was named the best player of the Six Nations.

"I've thought about [2023]," Jones told Sports Mole at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards. "I read a BBC biog that said 'almost certainly not' but I think the only solace I can take from that is the world 'almost'. I'd never say never but I'm focussed on Ospreys for the next few years."

Asked about closing in on Richie McCaw's record of 148 international caps, Jones added: "I haven't really looked that far ahead. It's very easy to turn sport into a game of numbers and I'm very cautious of that. When I got to 50, then a hundred, I knew those questions would be popping up and I'm well aware that it can been taken away from you very quickly."

Jones's Ospreys currently sit sixth in the Pro14 table.
