Olympic double trap shooting champion Peter Wilson announces retirement

Great Britain's Olympic double trap shooting gold medallist Peter Wilson announces his retirement at the age of 28.

Olympic double trap shooting champion Peter Wilson has announced his retirement from the sport at the age of 28.

The Dorset-born sport shooter made history back in 2012 by winning Great Britain's first gold medal in the event for 12 years at the London Olympic Games.

Wilson decided to take some time off from the sport after clinching his third title at the Al Ain World Cup last year.

"I took some time off to collect my thoughts and sadly from that point of view I decided I am enjoying my time off far too much," Wilson told BBC Radio Solent.

"The idea of getting back into competitive shooting wasn't one that fitted in my life so I decided to call it time."

Wilson now plans to go into coaching.
