Ronnie O'Sullivan claims that this year's World Championship could be his last major tournament.

Ronnie O'Sullivan has suggested that this year's World Championship could be his last major tournament.

The 37-year-old spent a number of months away from the sport in 2012 to overcome personal issues before returning to defend his title at the Crucible this year.

O'Sullivan reached the semi-finals of the competition on Wednesday with a 13-4 drubbing of Stuart Bingham.

"This could be my last proper major event," the four-time champion is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"As far as putting my heart and soul into snooker, I don't think that's what I want to do anymore but I had to give it a go. I needed some money quick. I've no intention to come back. If I find something else to do you definitely won't see me.

"I've kept my cards close to my chest but there's no reason to keep them close now. This is my last farewell, it's my swansong. I'm happy; I'm done. I can't keep putting myself through being unhappy."

O'Sullivan will face former UK champion Judd Trump in the World Championship semi-finals.
