The father of 13-year-old Commonwealth Games medalist Erraid Davies has admitted that he was on the verge of tears as he watched his daughter swim to success.
Davies, who is Scotland's youngest ever competitor at the Games, achieved a surprise third-place finish in the para-sport women's 100m breaststroke on Sunday.
"I just managed to stop crying but it was difficult," her father David told BBC Scotland. "It was amazing, absolutely amazing. That's the only word to describe it.
"When she was four she could hardly walk," he added. "So the pool was the only thing that kept her fit.
"She swam her first mile before she was six. She's been swimming ever since and she's just got better and better."
Davies was diagnosed with a hip problem at the age of four, and was in a wheelchair for another four years.
