Team Scotland swimmer Ross Murdoch has admitted that he feels emotionally drained after finishing sixth in tonight's 50m breaststroke final at Tollcross.
The 20-year-old stole the headlines at the start of the week when he beat favourite Michael Jamieson to a gold medal in the 200m breaststroke final, as well as setting a new Commonwealth record.
Since then, Murdoch has gone to win a bronze and break a further record, but failed to get on the podium in tonight's 50m final, which was won by South Africa's Cameron van der Burgh.
"I've had a long week, it's been physically tiring, emotionally tiring," Murdoch told reporters. "It's been a tough week for myself. Also, I'm not feeling as speedy as I normally do. I've been working a lot on my 200m and I think that's shown, but I really enjoyed myself tonight."
Scotland currently have nine medals from the pool.
