Great Britain's James Guy: 'To race my hero Ryan Lochte was amazing'

Great Britain's James Guy says that it was "amazing" to race against his 'hero' Ryan Lochte in the 200m freestyle final.

World champion James Guy has admitted that it felt "amazing" to race against his 'hero' Ryan Lochte on the way to winning 200m freestyle gold at the World Championships in Kazan last night.

The 19-year-old Brit upset the odds to win gold in the showdown, beating American Lochte and China's Sun Yang.

"I never thought I'd race Ryan Lochte head to head like that - he is one of my heroes," BBC Sport quotes Guy as saying.

"So to race him was amazing and to touch my hand on the wall first and be world champion hasn't sunk in quite yet. I am so happy."

Guy won silver in the 400m freestyle final on Sunday.
