Andy Murray: 'Novak Djokovic and I are no Roger Federer-Rafael Nadal'

Andy Murray says that his rivalry with Novak Djokovic has a long way to go before it reaches the heights of the duels between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

British number one Andy Murray has no doubts that the past rivalry of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal is stronger than the duel he shares with Novak Djokovic.

The Brit and the Serb go into Wednesday's ATP World Tour Finals meeting having claimed three wins each from their six clashes in 2012.

Some have compared the rivalry to that of the Swiss and the Spaniard, but Murray believes that they have a long way to go before eclipsing their battles.

"Whether me and Novak would replace anything Roger and Rafa have done, I think that's a long way off," said Murray.

"But I think some of the matches we've had this year were high quality, fun to watch, and I'm all for playing more of those matches if I can.

"For me there's an understanding of how much you have to put into the match to win it. I think that's just the nature of those matches."

Murray claimed his first Grand Slam title against Djokovic at the US Open.
