James Duckworth admits disappointment after Richard Gasquet defeat

James Duckworth says that he is "disappointed" with his display during his defeat to Richard Gasquet.

Australian James Duckworth has said that he is disappointed with his performance, after he lost to Richard Gasquet in the Australian Open second round.

The world number 24 eased through in straight sets, in contrast to their meeting at Wimbledon last year which went the whole distance.

Duckworth told reporters: "Richard's obviously a top quality player, he's been inside that top ten. He played well and I didn't play my best. I'm disappointed right now but hopefully a couple of matches in Brisbane and a couple here, I can use that as a springboard for the rest of the season."

Australia is having its best Australian Open for years as young players continue to emerge, and Duckworth says that they are all pushing each other hard.

"There are a lot of positive vibes around the place and the locker room. Everyone is really pushing each other to climb up those rankings and become better players," he added.

Nick Kyrgios and Bernard Tomic are already through to the third round, while veteran Lleyton Hewitt plays tomorrow.
