Andy Murray has admitted that he made too many errors in his quarter-final defeat to Tomas Berdych at the Cincinnati Masters.

The world number two, who was playing his final warm-up event before the defence of his US Open title, was beaten 6-3 6-4 by the Czech.

"I was a bit inconsistent from the back of the court," Murray is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "I'll need to make sure I'm not making those mistakes heading into the US Open."

The final Grand Slam of the season gets underway in New York on August 26.
