Dominic Thiem has defeated Alexander Zverev in four sets to continue his impressive run at the French Open.

In a match lasting just short of three hours, the first set proved to be the toughest for Thiem as he was pushed all the way to a tie-break after both players held serve.

It was Zverev who eventually took the opener 7-6(4), albeit after squandering two set points, but the Austrian battled back well and took the second set 6-3 to level things up overall.

Thiem was again able to hold in a huge third set, breaking his opponent in the third and ninth games to take it 6-3 and place one foot in the fourth round at Roland Garros.

Another 6-3 success in the fourth set followed, meaning Thiem's hopes of success in Paris remain alive and well heading into the second week of the Grand Slam event.
