Nicolas Almagro has progressed at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells with a straight-sets victory over fellow Spaniard Daniel Gimeno-Traver.
The 11th seed broke to take a 5-3 lead in the opening set, but he failed to close it out at the first time of asking as Gimeno-Traver broke back.
However, a tie-break was avoided when Almagro broke for a second time to secure the set 7-5.
He then brushed his countryman aside 6-1 in the second to reach round three of the competition.
