Eugenie Bouchard: 'I gave myself a talking to'

Eugenie Bouchard reveals that she gave herself a long hard look in the mirror to help her refocus in her fourth-round win over Irina-Camelia Begu at the Australian Open.

Eugenie Bouchard has admitted that she gave herself a "long hard look in the mirror" to inspire her to victory over Irina-Camelia Begu in the fourth round of the Australian Open.

The 20-year-old put in a dominant display in the first set as she clinched it 6-1, and was well on her to winning the second as he stormed into a 3-0 lead.

However, mistakes on her serve allowed Begu back into match as she took the set 7-5, which forced Bouchard off the court for a break.

Following her return, the Canadian produced some of her best tennis to take the deciding set 6-2 and seal her place in the last eight of the competition.

When asked how she composed herself after the break, Bouchard told reporters: "I gave myself a long hard look in the mirror, and I said 'Genie this is unacceptable'.

"I really kind of kicked myself in the butt a little bit and just tried to relax and play my game. I play so much better when I do that."

Bouchard will play either Maria Sharapova or Shuai Peng in the quarter-finals of the tournament.
