Ernests Gulbis secures straight-sets win over Grigor Dimitrov in Rotterdam

Ernests Gulbis reaches the next phase of the Rotterdam Open by beating Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets in the second round.

Ernests Gulbis has secured a 6-4 7-6(3) victory over Grigor Dimitrov in the second round of the Rotterdam Open.

The number eight seed was put on the back foot when Gulbis grabbed the one and only break of the opening set.

Dimitrov was unable to create a break point of his own as he struggled to handle Gulbis's serves, six of which resulted in aces.

Gulbis took the first set, but Dimitrov showed more strength in the second by holding his serve, but squandered five break points before the set moved into a tie-break.

Despite Dimitrov's form in the second set, Gulbis managed to take control by storming to a three-to-love lead in the tie-break before eventually wrapping it up 7-3.
