David Goffin breezes past Steve Johnson in Rogers Cup

David Goffin books his place in the second round of the Rogers Cup with a straight-sets win over Steve Johnson.

David Goffin has recorded a straight-sets win over Steve Johnson to secure his spot in the second round of the Rogers Cup.

The 13th seed dominated on his serve throughout the 55-minute contest, eventually taking it by a 6-2 6-2 scoreline.

Goffin dropped just three points behind his own delivery during the opener, and he continued to keep Johnson away from any opportunity of a break of serve by winning all of the points on his first serve in the second.

The Belgian was equally impressive with his return, taking four of his 12 break-point opportunities in the match, to run out a comfortable winner.
