Serena Williams cruises to a 6-0 6-3 win over Kirsten Flipkens to reach the fourth round of the Rogers Cup.

Serena Williams has continued her progress in the Rogers Cup with a dominant straight-sets win over Kirsten Flipkens.

Williams made short work of the Belgian, eventually winning 6-0 6-3.

Flipkens missed a chance to make a perfect start to the match when she squandered two break points in the opening game, and Williams took full advantage of this let-off to storm into an early lead.

From that point on, the American had little trouble on her own serve and managed to break Flipkens in all three of her service games to take the set 6-0.

Williams was even more impressive in the second set, losing just one point on her own serve and recording five love games - including breaking Flipkens in the fourth game - to take a 6-3 win and book her place in the fourth round.

Williams will face Magdalena Rybarikova in the next round after the Slovak beat Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli, who was forced to retire when one set down.
