American youngster Dennis Novikov has admitted that he has gained a lot of confidence from his run to round two at the US Open.
The 18-year-old upset the odds to defeat Olivier Rochus in what was his first appearance in the senior draw at Flushing Meadows earlier this week.
Having also recorded a number of victories at the recent National Championships in Kalamazoo, Novikov has conceded that his tennis could not be going much better at the moment.
"My confidence is pretty high right now, especially coming off a 15-0 winning streak that includes both singles and doubles from Kalamazoo, where I played seven singles and six doubles matches, and then my match here," Novikov told reporters. "So I'm feeling really good about things."
Tomorrow he will take on France's Julien Benneteau for a place in round three.
