Andy Roddick sealed his place in the fourth round of the US Open with a straight sets victory over Julien Benneteau.
The American made light work of his opponent in the first set, overpowering the Frenchman to win 6-1.
Benneteau was more resistant in the second, but the number 21 seed proved more consistent and dispatched him 6-4.
Roddick found himself in a battle in the third, but he was able to close out the match in the tie-break, winning 7-5.
The 2003 winner will now play Spain's David Ferrer for a place in the quarter-finals.
