Novak Djokovic through at US Open

World number two Novak Djokovic continues the defence of his US Open title with a victory over Julien Benneteau.

Defending champion Novak Djokovic booked his place in round four of the US Open thanks to a victory over France's Julien Benneteau this afternoon.

Serbian Djokovic made his first breakthrough of the encounter during the sixth game of the opening set to take a 4-2 lead.

The remainder of the set went with serve as Djokovic took a one-set lead with a 6-3 success.

Benneteau seemed to struggle to find any rhythm after that point and was broken twice in the next two sets as Djokovic ran out a 6-2 6-2 victor.

He will now face either Alexandr Dolgopolov or Stanislas Wawrinka for a place in the quarter-final.
