Janko Tipsarevic has defeated Philipp Kohlschreiber in straight sets to progress to the quarter-finals of the US Open.
The Serbian got the better of his German opponent 6-3 7-6(5) 6-2 at Flushing Meadows in their fourth-round encounter on Wednesday.
Tipsarevic won the first set in 50 minutes, but was given a stiff competition in the second when it went to a tie-break.
The third set was the easiest of the three for the 28-year-old, as he wrapped it up in just 34 minutes.
Tipsarevic will now take on David Ferrer for a place in the semi-finals.
