Andy Murray seeded third for Wimbledon title defence

Andy Murray will defend his Wimbledon title as the third seed for the Grand Slam next week.

Andy Murray will defend his Wimbledon title as the third seed in the men's draw at the All England Club next week.

The Scotsman, who is ranked fifth in the world, is placed behind top seed Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, who won a record ninth French Open title earlier this month.

Murray, who became the first Brit in 77 years to win the Wimbledon title last summer, cannot face Djokovic, Nadal or Roger Federer, who is seeded fourth for the competition, before the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, on the women's side, Serena Williams has been announced as top seed for the Grand Slam, ahead of Li Na, Simona Halep, Agnieszka Radwanska and Maria Sharapova.
