Milos Raonic beats Daniel Gimeno-Traver in four sets

Milos Raonic battles through to the second round of Wimbledon with a four-set win over Daniel Gimeno-Traver.

Seventh seed Milos Raonic is through to the second round at Wimbledon thanks to a four-set victory over Daniel Gimeno-Traver.

The Canadian looked set for a simple afternoon when he raced into a two-set lead with minimal fuss, as he broke four times on the way to a 6-2 6-3 lead.

However, Gimeno-Traver hit back in the third and shocked Raonic by breaking his serve and winning it 6-3.

The Spaniard's resilience continued into the fourth as he held off Raonic's attack, taking it to a tie-break.

However, the Canadian stepped up a gear as he raced into a 5-0 lead and, although Gimeno-Traver fought back, he booked his place in the next round when the Spaniard floated a slice wide.

Raonic will play Tommy Haas in the second round on Wednesday.
