Team GB ski coach: 'James Woods recovering from crash'

Pat Sharples says that James Woods is hoping to recover from a training crash in time for Thursday's slopestyle competition.

Great Britain's freestyle ski team manager and head coach Pat Sharples has revealed that slopestyle athlete James Woods is trying to recover from a crash in training earlier this month.

Sharples said that Woods has been unable to train much since the crash, but is confident that the 22-year-old will recover his fitness when the competition begins.

"I'll be totally honest with you guys now, he's taken a bad crash a couple of days ago in training, so he's not feeling 100%," BBC Sport quotes Sharples as saying.

"We didn't get to do much training with him today, but we've got amazing doctors and our physio, Ally Robb, she's amazing.

"We're doing everything we can to try and get him 100% for training in a couple of days and fingers crossed he's 100% for the competition."

The slopestyle competition begins on Thursday.
