Great Britain skier Murray Buchan: 'Conditions were tough'

Murray Buchan admits that the changing conditions made the ski half-pipe competition tricky for all competitors.

Great Britain freestyle skier Murray Buchan has admitted that the snowy conditions during the half-pipe qualifying runs on Tuesday made things tough for the competitors.

Despite the conditions Buchan was delighted that he managed to put down two successful runs, although his 17th-place finish was not enough to reach the final of the event.

"It has been difficult all day," he told Team GB's official website. "There has been a lot of rain, a lot of fresh snow, people have been struggling and we saw that by a few of the big crashes.

"I was really pleased to get a run down and get a score on the board so I could push on my second run. It has been tough, the first day of practice in the pipe was really difficult, the second was brilliant and the pipe was good and the weather was good.

"And then the weather came in and it made it difficult again for all the riders to get a good session under their belt."

Buchan's compatriot James Machon finished 23rd in the qualifying round.
