Great Britain's skeleton medal hopeful Lizzy Yarnold has posted the fastest time on the first day of practice for this year's event at the Sochi Winter Olympics.
Yanold's first run came in at a time of 58.59s, which was 0.05s ahead of Maria Orlova of Russia. She followed it up with the fourth-fastest time in her second run.
"I think the competition is going to be really exciting to watch and definitely Great Britain with Lizzy, the Americans and the Germans are quite strong now," Yarnold's teammate Shelley Rudman told reporters.
"I think it's going to be quite an open race. It will be intriguing."
The first two of four runs will take place on Thursday.
