Freestyle ski star and Great British medal hope Katie Summerhayes has booked her place in the final of the women's slopestyle in Sochi.

Sheffield-born teenager Summerhayes scored 81.40 points in her first run, before improving on her second to land an 84, which helped her qualify in third place behind Canadian duo Dara Howell and Kim Lamarre.

However, it was not all good news for Canada, who saw gold medal favourite Kaya Turski exit the event after crashing twice.

Summerhayes was the only athlete to post two 80-plus scores in qualifying. The final is due to begin at 9am UK time.
