Martellus Bennett backs Marc Trestman at Baltimore Ravens

Chicago Bears star Martellus Bennett believes that former coach Marc Trestman will be a success with the Baltimore Ravens.

Chicago Bears tight end Martellus Bennett has backed former head coach Marc Trestman to be a success in his new role with the Baltimore Ravens.

After two years as the Bears coach, Trestman parted ways with the franchise at the end of the season and was recently appointed as the Ravens' offensive co-ordinator.

"Calling plays, he was excellent. I think he's going to be an excellent coordinator for the Ravens. Strategically, he was great. But on the field, guys just weren't executing," Bennett told NFL AM.

"A lot of it comes back to the player preparation. If you're not preparing to a high level, then the coaches can only do so much; the game's not played on paper, it's played on grass. On paper, we look great. On grass, we looked bad."

Bennett and signal-caller Jay Cutler will be looking ahead to working with a new head coach in John Fox and a new offensive co-ordinator after Adam Gase's arrival.
