Brian Urlacher says that he would take a reduced salary to remain at the Chicago Bears.

Brian Urlacher has said that he would take a paycut in order to secure a new contract with the Chicago Bears.

The linebacker is poised to become a free agent during the off-season as his current deal is due to expire.

The 34-year-old told WMVP-AM: "When you look at my age and everything, it's going to be hard to not give them a discount.

"I'm not going to make what I was making in the past, how about that? Does that make sense? That's fair."

Urlacher missed the end of the 2012 regular season with a hamstring injury, having recorded two forced fumbles and an interception earlier in the campaign.
