Brian Hoyer has said that leadership is part of being a quarterback in the NFL.
The Cleveland Browns QB will continue as the team's starter this week, having guided the AFC North side to their first win of the season last Sunday.
The 27-year-old told the team's website: "I think being a leader is part of the job at this position. You show confidence, you show that you know what you're doing, I think other guys see that and feed off it.
"If I feel like I need to say something, I say it. I'm not going to go out there and be 'rah-rah'. I'm not that type of guy. If you can go out there and show that you're responsible for your job, show that you're prepared, I think other guys see that, and that's another way to be a leader.
"After this game, that's only a quarter of the season down. You've just got to continue to build and be consistent with it. You do it one time, that's OK. But you've got to do it week in and week out, day in and day out."
The Browns face the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
