Dallas Cowboys' Pro Bowl defensive end Anthony Spencer is ready to play a role during this weekend's game with the Kansas City Chiefs, according to the Dallas Morning News.
Despite Spencer missing the whole of pre-season following knee surgery in July, he was on course to return last week before a rehabilitation setback caused a delay.
George Selvie will start in Spencer's place - as he did against the New York Giants last Sunday - but Spencer is ready to begin as back-up for his side as he tries to regain sharpness.
Spencer was the Cowboys' defensive MVP last season, with 95 tackles and 11 sacks to his name.
