Dallas Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones has admitted that the club cannot afford to pin all their hopes on filling a particular roster spot in the upcoming Draft.
Jones said that while the Cowboys were looking in particular for defensive line players, they have a number of options to choose from in order to have a successful Draft.
"You start targeting something and drafting for need, we all know that'll get you in trouble," Jones told the club's official website. "It'll be nice to come out of the Draft at some point with a defensive front guy, defensive lineman or two.
"But no, I don't think we can just say, 'Hey, we're going to take the first two picks and it's got to be defensive linemen.' I think you get in trouble that way.
"We spend millions of dollars in our scouting department and we spend a lot of money on our coaches and everybody has tremendous input. I think it's a good system."
The Cowboys finished with 8-8 in the NFC East last season.
