Elvis Dumervil is offered a new contract with the Denver Broncos less than a week after the side released him.

The Denver Broncos have confirmed that they have made an offer to re-sign Elvis Dumervil.

The defensive end was cut by the AFC West side after his agent failed to meet a deadline to fax paperwork relating to a restructured contract.

At this week's NFL owners meeting in Arizona, John Elway told reporters: "We've offered Elvis a contract. We'd like to have Elvis back."

Prior to his release, Dumervil had agreed to reduce his annual salary to $8m (£5.3m), a cut of $4m.

The 29-year-old has also been linked to the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens since becoming a free agent.
