Detroit Lions release Nate Burleson

The Detroit Lions release wide receiver Nate Burleson after four season with the team.

The Detroit Lions have announced that Nate Burleson has been released following four seasons with the team.

The wide receiver has struggled with injuries in the last two years, starting just 13 games.

The 32-year-old told the Detroit Free-Press: "It's a hard decision for them to make, but I can't blame them for making it."

Burleson, who missed half of the 2013 season with a broken arm following a car crash, also confirmed that he intends to play in 2014.
