Houston Texans quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has insisted that being close is not good enough after their 33-28 loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday night.
After falling 24-0 behind in the first quarter, the Texans staged a comeback by going 28-9 over the final three quarters.
However, it was not enough to overturn the deficit and they have now fallen a game behind the Colts in the AFC South standings.
"We can't keep writing the same narrative of, 'Hey, we were close,'" Fitzpatrick said, according to the Houston Chronicle.
"That's not what we're here for. We're here to win."
Defensive lineman JJ Watt shared Fitzpatrick's view of needing to do more as, despite recording a fumble recovery and scoring a touchdown, there was no win attached to his individual performance.
