Hakeem Nicks: 'I'm in the best shape ever'

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Hakeem Nicks responds to talk about his fitness levels by stating that he is in the best shape he has ever been in as an NFL player.

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Hakeem Nicks has spoken out about his physical condition, stating that he is 'in the best shape he has ever been in'.

Nicks was thought to have been recently criticised by offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton about his conditioning, but the player has moved to clarify the coach's comments and give his take on his current fitness levels.

"I'm in the best shape I've ever been in," the receiver told ESPN.

"I came in weighing 209 when I was supposed to come in weighing 212. After Pep came to me to clarify, he said that he [meant] everybody's getting into game shape right now – it's the beginning of camp.

"He came apologizing to let me know he wasn't just singling me out."

The new NFL season gets underway on September 4.
