Jason Pierre-Paul 'loses finger' after fireworks accident

New York Giants' Jason Pierre-Paul reportedly has his right index finger amputated following a fireworks accident.

New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul has had his finger amputated after a fireworks accident, according to reports.

The 26-year-old suffered a hand injury while attempting to light fireworks during July 4 celebrations, and he went straight to hospital.

However, ESPN reporter Adam Schefter claims that Pierre-Paul has had his right index finger amputated, although a medical source informed him that the player will return to action "sooner than people think".

Pierre-Paul wasn't the only player to suffer firework-related injuries, as Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback CJ Wilson sustained a hand injury in a similar incident.
