The New York Giants have officially exercised their 2015 contract option on cornerback Prince Amukamara.
As a 2011 first-round Draft pick, he is subject to the new CBA rules which allow a team to exercise a fifth-year contract option on its first-round pick if it chooses to do so.
The 24-year-old has performed well after overcoming initial problems during his rookie year and started all 16 games at cornerback in 2013 with injuries elsewhere opening up a position.
However, he is likely to face competition next season after the Giants acquired Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Walter Thurmond.
