The Oakland Raiders have produced a controlled performance to earn their first victory of the NFL season in a 19-9 success over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Oakland broke the deadlock late in the first quarter at the Coliseum, with Marcel Reece finishing off a swift drive with an 11-yard burst into the endzone.
Josh Scobee got Jacksonville on the board midway through the second quarter with a 27-yard field goal, only for Sebastian Janikowski to trump his efforts with four successive kicks at the other end, helping the Raiders build a comfortable 19-3 lead in the fourth quarter.
With just three minutes left, the Jaguars finally scored their first touchdown of the season through Clay Harbor, who was found with a cleverly floated pass from Chad Henne.
A two-point conversion failed for the visitors as Stephen Burton was unable to make contact, with Henne sacked for the second time in their next drive to dampen any hopes of a last-ditch comeback.
The Raiders held firm for a victory built on solid defense and 226 rushing yards.
