Chip Kelly pleased with battling Philadelphia Eagles win

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly hails his side's display as they secure their first win of the season with a 24-17 victory over the New York Jets.

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly has praised his players' performance in their win over the New York Jets as they recorded their first victory of the season.

The Eagles bounced back from a tough loss to the Dallas Cowboys last week to get off the mark in the campaign as Darren Sproles found the endzone twice, while Ryan Mathews also notched a touchdown to secure a 24-17 win at MetLife Stadium.

"I thought it was gritty," Kelly told reporters. "You knew going in, to use a boxing analogy, that two guys were just going to stand in the middle of the ring and start swinging at each other, and that's what happened.

"We kind of just went back to basics. What we really talked about was creating turnovers on our side of the ball, and it's something [we] talked about last April, that we turned the ball over too much and we had to create more on the defensive side. Obviously, it had a huge impact on this game."

The Eagles are 1-2 in their season and face the Washington Redskins in their next outing.
