Philadelphia Eagles vice president of football operations Howie Roseman has revealed that he is against the idea of trading up in the NFL Draft.
The Eagles have been touted to move up from their position at the 20th selection to take quarterback Marcus Mariota, but Roseman has hinted that the club are unlikely to do so because of the high price of trading up in the selection process.
Roseman said at the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference: "When you're looking at trading up, at some point, your board drops off so dramatically in terms of how you evaluate that player.
"But the history of trading up for one player, when you look at those trades, isn't good for the team trading up and putting a lot of resources into it."
The Eagles selected linebacker Marcus Smith with the 26th pick in the 2014 Draft, who struggled to produce for the club in his rookie season.
