Report: Pittsburgh Steelers star Jason Worilds to become free agent

Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker Jason Worilds expects to become a free agent as the franchise reportedly don't plan on using a transition tag on him.

Pittsburgh Steelers star Jason Worilds is set to become a free agent as the franchise has no plans to use a transition tag on him, according to reports.

Worilds recorded over 15 sacks in the last two seasons which makes him a coveted pass rusher in free agency, but the Steelers will allow the market to establish his value.

Pittsburgh will still have the option of bidding on the fifth-year veteran, while they have until Monday to decide whether or not to use a transition tag.

General manager Kevin Colbert recently described the 27-year-old as an "ascending player", but they appear keen on looking elsewhere at the position in free agency.

The Steelers have already restructured the contracts of Marcus Gilbert and Mike Mitchell, as they look to clear room under the salary cap.
