San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith believes that he has the support of the club despite his recent off-the-field problems.
The 49ers picked up the option to take Smith's contract into a fifth season in 2015, despite him being arrested this off-season for making false bomb claim in an airport as well as facing felony gun charges and a drink driving charge.
"The 49ers have supported me," Smith told CSNBayArea.com. "As you can see, the option [for the 2015 season] got picked up. And if I was a thug or something, I don't think they'd take those chances."
Smith has recorded 137 tackles, 42.5 sacks and one interception in his three-year NFL career.
