Former Miami Dolphins quarterback Pat White says that the San Francisco 49ers are interested in signing him.

Quarterback Pat White has said that he has received interest from the San Francisco 49ers during this off-season.

The Super Bowl finalists are in the market for a backup quarterback, having traded Alex Smith to the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this year.

The former Miami Dolphin told NFL.com: "I pay attention to how his players react to Coach [Jim] Harbaugh. They all want to win for him. And he seems to treat them how they want to be treated.

"I'm excited to get to know him on that level, if I do get that opportunity. I'm very optimistic about making it back to the NFL."

The 27-year-old has not played in the NFL since being released by the Dolphins at the start of the 2010 season.
