Report: Earl Thomas signs new Seattle Seahawks deal

Seattle Seahawks defensive back Earl Thomas signs a new four-year contract extension with the club that makes him the highest-paid safety in the NFL, according to reports.

Seattle Seahawks defensive back Earl Thomas has reportedly signed a new four-year contract extension with the club.

The 24-year-old was a crucial part of Pete Carroll's side that secured the Seahawks' first Super Bowl win in the history of the franchise as they hammered the Denver Broncos.

Thomas was under contract for the 2014 season, but Seattle wanted to secure the future of the All-Pro and have signed him to a four-year deal worth $44.62m (£26.17m) to make him the highest-paid safety in the NFL, according to reports.

The safety recorded 105 tackles and five interceptions in the 2013 season.
